Huangshan lies in the south of Anhui Province and covers an area of 9,807 square kilometers with a resident population of 1.323 million.

Endowed with a beautiful natural landscape, the city is famous for Huangshan Mountain. With the “five wonders” of odd-shaped pines, spectacular rocks, a sea of clouds, hot springs and winter snow scenery, Mount Huangshan is listed as a world cultural and natural heritage, a world geopark, and a member of World Network of Biosphere Reserves. As an important strategic water source in East China, Xin’an River Landscape Gallery stretching for 359 kilometers originates from Huangshan City and flows into Qiantang River in Hangzhou City.

Huangshan boasts 310 national traditional villages, 492 provincial traditional villages and 4072 historical buildings. Xin’an Painting School, Xin'an Medicine, Hui-style architecture and four types of Huizhou carvings still have an impact on our society. Hui culture is one of the three distinctive regional cultures in China . Huizhou Opera helped the development of Peking Opera and Huizhou cuisine is one of the eight major cuisines of China.
