Anqing lies in the southwest of Anhui with a total area of 13,590 square kilometers and a permanent population of 4.156 million.

From the 25 th year of Qianlong reign of Qing Dynasty (1760) to the 38th year of the Republic of China (1949), the city has been the capital city as well as the political, economic and cultural center of Anhui Province. It is a tourist city with beautiful scenery. Tianzhu Mountain, a national natural and cultural heritage site and a world geopark, which is famous for its great number of peaks, caves, grotesque rocks, waterfalls and springs, and canyons. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, the tea picking melody, which originated at the border of Anhui and Hubei, was spread to Anqing City and combined with the local dialect, and then Huangmei Opera became famous at home and abroad.
