At the northern foot of Dabie Mountainous, Lu'an City is located in the west of Anhui Province with an area of 15,450 square kilometers and a permanent population of about 4.379 million. It is a central city of the Dabie Mountains area, an integrated development city of the Yangtze River Delta, and a national land transportation hub city.

Lu'an is a famous old revolutionary base in China, an important base for the founding of the Communist Party of China and an important birthplace of the people's army. Since 1958, the people of Lu'an have spent 14 years to build the world-famous Pishihang Irrigation District water conservancy project, playing a big role in flood control, irrigation, shipping, power generation, aquaculture, and urban water supply. Lu'an has rich agricultural resources, among which Lu'an Guapian tea and Huoshan dendrobium enjoy national reputation. Tiantangzhai, a national 5A-rated tourist attraction, is known as the last primeval forest in East China. Recognized as a national forest park and a national nature reserve, it boasts original geological landscape, a complete subtropical primeval forest and rich rare animals and plants.
