Located in southeast Anhui, Wuhu is in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, covering an area of 6,009 square kilometers with a permanent population of about 3.731 million.

Wuhu has a long history, formerly known as Jiuzi. The inverted-V-shaped cave site (the shape of the Chinese character "man" ) is the earliest human cultural site found in Eurasia, which advanced the history of Asian human hundreds of thousands of years.

Wuhu now becomes one of the key cities under the development plan of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration in China, a hub in the Industrial Transfer Demonstration Zone of the Wanjiang City Belt, and an important city in G60 Sci-Tech Corridor. The economic output of Wuhu ranks second in Anhui Province.

Wuhu is an important node city in the national "Ten Vertical and Ten Horizontal" comprehensive transportation corridor, with access to both water, land, and air.
