These automobile production steps like quality inspections of seat belts and headlight covers, and attaching labels, used to be finished by mechanical arms and manual operation, and now a humanoid robot could complete the main work in new energy vehicle factories in Hefei. It is reported that the humanoid robot has officially started work on the production line in NIO's factories in Hefei.
It is known that this humanoid robot named Wallker S, is a domestic industrial version of the humanoid robot. It was developed by UBTECH Robotics in 2023, a domestic enterprise, and made its debut at the end of that year. From the video offered by NIO, the humanoid robot in Hefei factories moves on the production line, rotates its arms and wrists, and adjusts its body to accomplish pre-set operations in manufacturing process like the seat belt test and applying labels. Standing 1.7 meters tall, the humanoid robot has a comprehensive upgrade of technologies in visual positioning and navigation, eye-hand coordination and gait control, which helps improve its autonomous movement and decision-making ability, and work on factory assembly lines in a precise, safe and synchronized manner.
