Recently, the reporter entered the Chery production base in the Wuhu Economic and Technological Development Zone, and what attracted people's attention was the Intelligent Connected Mega Factory led by the concepts of "intelligence, connection, electrification, and green". It is learned that Wuhu Economic and Technological Development Zone has taken new energy and intelligent connected vehicles as the primary industries, with Chery Automobile as the core, to accelerate the construction of new energy automobile industry cluster with international competitiveness, and strive to make "Anhui-made" automobiles sought-after in the world.

In 2021, Wuhu City proposed to prioritize new energy and intelligent connected vehicles as the primary industries. The Wuhu Economic and Technological Development Zone took the initiative and made every effort to drive the agglomeration and development of enterprises throughout the entire chain. At present, 110 industrial enterprises in the new energy and intelligent connected automobile industry above designated size in the zone have driven nearly a thousand associated enterprises in that whole industry chain in the fields of  vehicle, power system, chassis, bodywork, interior and exterior decoration, intelligent cabin, electrical appliance and so on, contributing to a well-developed intelligent connected automobile industry cluster and ecosystem.

Tang Xinliang, a member of the Party working committee and deputy director of the management committee of Wuhu Economic and Technological Development Zone, said that by 2027, the annual output value of the primary industry in the zone will exceed 500 billion yuan, the annual production scale of complete vehicles will exceed 2 million, and the annual export scale of automobiles will exceed 1 million. Efforts will be made to build a global leading production base for passenger vehicles, the largest export base for passenger vehicles in China and a core cluster area of national self-owned brand vehicles.
