On August 19, villagers in Chengkan village, Huizhou district, Huangshan city, Anhui province began to put crops of different colors in bamboo baskets to sun-dry them. This practice is called “shaiqiu” and has been carried on since ancient times in this thousand- year-old village. During this period, villagers gather various agricultural products on the square by Yongxing Lake. Red and green chili peppers and yellow corn all add a lively touch to the ink-painting-like ancient village, creating a colorful rural landscape.
