With the arrival of the autumn, the rural tradition of “shaiqiu” started in numerous villages, Huizhou district, Huangshan city.
In Tangmo village and Lingshan village, Huizhou district, villagers were busy spreading, hanging, and drying golden corn, orange pumpkins, and red peppers. Colorful crops and unique Hui-style buildings complement each other, forming a poetic and harmonious rural landscape.
"Shaiqiu" is a rural tradition to dry crops in Huizhou villages. Villagers take advantage of the fair weather to dry the crops they have just harvested on the square of the village, or on the racks in front of and behind the house. Nowadays, "shaiqiu" has become a local culture, and villagers put crops in various patterns to express their desire for a promising life.
