From May to June hybrid rice has entered a harvest season in Madagascar with the fragrance of rice filling the air.
In 2007, the China-aided Madagascar Hybrid Rice Demonstration Center Project was officially initiated. After 18 years, the total area of hybrid rice cultivation across the island has reached 90,000 hectares, with an average yield of 7.5 tons per hectare. Madagascar has become the African country with the largest area and highest yield of hybrid rice cultivation.
A single seed crossing mountains and seas nurtures not only fields of abundant harvests, but also the enduring friendship between China and Africa.
