Early morning on July 7, flocks of egrets arrived in many spots across Quanjiao County, Chuzhou, Anhui Province. Out in the fields, farm machines plowed away in neat order while the egrets fed freely right alongside them — modern farming and wild birds coexisting side by side.

The egrets kept busy in all sorts of ways: sometimes spreading their wings to circle high in the sky, chasing each other around for fun; sometimes perching quietly on the treetops for a rest; sometimes diving down into the fields and slipping into the water to catch their food.
