In midsummer, the familiar aroma of mutton drifts through the Zhiqing Park in Dingli Town, Xiaoxian County, Anhui. Starting on July 20, Dingli Zhiqing Park, as a sub-venue of the Xiaoxian County Fuyang Cultural Festival, offered heartwarming free mutton soup to model workers. It delivered the warmth of home across the whole country, while allowing overseas natives to feel the cultural heartbeat of their homeland through the screen.
This year’s event is jointly presented by five long-established local mutton restaurants. Starting at 8 a.m. each day, the soup had been carefully simmered for ten hours before being distributed free of charge at 6:30 p.m. On the first day, special invitations were extended to representatives of frontline workers, such as sanitation workers and forest rangers, helping them enjoy the very first pot of mutton soup of the hottest summer period.
“This is not only a feast for the taste, but also a preservation of our cultural heritage.” Said the person in charge of Dingli Zhiqing Park. The event adopts the model of “government sets the stage, enterprises perform, and everyone shares,” exploring a new path for bringing cultural benefits to citizens.
