Li Shouliang, a 98-year-old veteran of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, joined the resistance forces against Japanese aggression in 1943. During guerrilla warfare in the mountains, he went through numerous life-and-death struggles. When outnumbered by the enemy in a clash, Li engaged the enemy with his bayonet and knocked down two Japanese invaders. Amid the chaos, his left index finger was injured and the scar has become a witness to his courage and valor. At the end of the interview, the 98-year-old veteran sang “I am a Soldier” with resolve and expected the younger generation to remember history and inherit the unyielding spirit.
