Ike Kitili, a 28-year-old Kenyan doctoral student in Governance and Public Policy at Tianjin Normal University, has been studying in China for nine years. Recently he embarked on a journey to Yixian County, Huangshan City, Anhui Province, to explore the secrets behind China’s rural revitalization and the magic that brings rural communities to life.
In Kecun Town, he observed that public opinions were discussed during campfire conversations and praised the model of everyone coming together to solve problems. In Hongxing Township, the credit-point system encouraged villagers to protect the environment and promoted the green and sustainable development of the local area. In Hongcun, he was impressed by the unique path of protecting and developing cultural heritage here. The African young man looks forward to bringing China's rural governance experience back to Kenya and wants to make his own efforts to foster the friendship between China and Africa.
