As a traditional folk art in Fengyang, Chuzhou, Anhui, Feng Painting (Phoenix Painting) symbolizes auspiciousness and beauty with a long history of 600 years. It’s said to have been a beloved treasure of Zhu Yuanzhang, Emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty. It gained popularity among officials and common people. In 2006, it was listed among Anhui’s first batch of representative intangible cultural heritage (ICH) items.
