Beyond the bustling city lies a pure land preserved by time—Renli Village, Yingzhou Town, Jixi County, Xuancheng City, where the ancient Hui-style architecture quietly tells stories of past thousand years. As a thousand-year-old village on the Hui-Hang Ancient Road, Renli Village has a history of about 1500 years and was named by Geng Yuanjin, a minister in the Southern Dynasties (420-589) who moved to Renli Village for its picturesque landscape.
Lying at the foot of mountains and beside rivers, Renli Village is a typical Hui-style ancient village with profound cultural accumulation, and still preserves a vast number of ancient buildings from the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Walking through Renli Village, you can see numerous historical relics such as ancient folk houses, ancient ancestral halls, and ancient archways. A homestay called Sicheng Academy · Renli No. 69 converted from two ancient folk houses is also located here.
The quaint homestay features gray tiles and white walls, towering horse-head walls, and exquisite wooden window carvings, which are all sparkling in the sunlight. The courtyard, small bridges, flowing water, rockeries, stone footpaths, and shade of trees seem to create a beautiful landscape painting. Simple and elegant furniture, exquisite furnishings, every corner inside the homestay reveals the traditional charm and modern comfort. Living in a unique Hui-style architecture and strolling through Renli Village, you seem to engage in a dialogue with ancient Huizhou spanning thousands of years.
