On Sept 3, the Huizhou Weirs in Anhui province were added to the list of World Heritage Irrigation Structures. As the product of Huizhou people's struggle against natural disasters, the main part of the Huizhou Weirs is located in Xixinan town, Huizhou district, Huangshan city. It has comprehensive functions of irrigation, flood control, fire prevention and ecology, with profound historical, cultural, and aesthetic values. Among them, Baonan Weir with a history of 1697 years is the oldest irrigation project with written records in the Xin'an River.
